Qualifications for Board Certified Chaplains

and Biblical Counselors

1. Must be a licensed or an ordained minister with the I.M.A. 
(If not already a member, please submit an IMA Member Application with your $25 Application Fee.)

2. Must have earned at least a Masters Degree (MRE, MDIV, MBS, THM, MBC, ect.) from a recognized Bible college or Seminary.

3. Must adhere to the Legacy Church Ministries Core Values with all chaplains and counselors, as well as, all other members of the Interdenominational Ministerial Association.

4. Must submit a total of nine letters of references; three letters of professional references, three letters of character references, and three letters from past clients you have counseled that are willing to share your effectiveness. 
(All professional or ministry letters should be on organization's letter head.)

5. Must submit a personal resume or biographical sketch on your ministerial experience.
(This is to include the names, titles, and contact information of the leadership over your previous positions/experiences.)  

If not seeking Board certification, but simply wanting to complete a counseling or chaplain program, the student must complete the following:

1. Must be a licensed or an ordained minister with the I.M.A. 
(If not already a member, please submit an IMA Member Application with your $25 Application Fee.)

2. Must submit a total of nine letters of references; three letters of professional references, three letters of character references, and three letters from past clients you have counseled that are willing to share your effectiveness. 
(All professional or ministry letters should be on organization's letter head.)

3. Must have earned at least an Associate of Arts in Religious Education Degree.

4. Must have completed the following classes through Evangelical Bible College and Seminary:
 
- Pastoral counseling I
- Pastoral counseling II
- Pastoral counseling III

*To maintain certification or board certification, the ministers must stay in good standing with the Interdenominational Ministerial Association dues and conduct requirements.
